Gravity & Other Myths are back at the Fringe with Ten Thousand Hours, the international smash hit that sold out in 2025, playing the Main Hall at Assembly Hall. From the creators of A Simple Space, this is billed as an ode to the countless hours of sweat and joy it takes to achieve great things, and having now seen it, I can tell you the blurb undersells it.
Word going round is this might be the Australians’ last run at the Fringe, which puts a slightly bittersweet edge on the whole thing. A bit sad, honestly, because they are genuinely amazing at what they do.
Practical tip first: get in the queue early. You want a seat centre, about halfway back. Any closer and you’ll be craning your neck or squinting at the stage, and you’ll miss some of the shapes they build. Trust me on this one.
What they actually do up there is truly awe-inspiring — the movements, the strength, the skill, all of it. It’s the kind of show where you find yourself holding your breath without noticing you’re doing it.
And look, I’ll say the quiet part out loud: there is something faintly, delightfully improper about watching a genuinely gorgeous, superbly built guy get thrown around the stage by two other equally well-built guys. Pass the cooling fan and the smelling salts. #phwoar.
If this really is goodbye, I may well have to make the trip to Melbourne Fringe to catch them again. Or maybe they’ll sneak back under a new name in a year or two. Who can tell?
