The seals in St Abbs are a relatively new phenomenon apparently, having only really started to pup in the area about five or six years ago. We've been once before but that was towards the end of the season and we only saw a single animal, so were left disappointed.
This time, however, we struck white fluffy gold! There were loads of pups on the beach, all at various stages of development. Some were only two weeks old, others had already shed their puppy fluff and were little grey specked versions of their parents. It's definitely an annual pilgrimage to make!
If you're going, park in the National Trust for Scotland car park, which is behind the first cafe you come to just as you arrive into St Abbs (at that sharp 90 degree bend that turns right towards St Abbs, go straight ahead and the car park is there... if you see the gallery on your left, or go past the large archway with a gate in it... you've driven too far.)
