The Naked Gun

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Naked Gun franchise is back. Originally made famous by Leslie Nielsen’s brilliantly clueless Frank Drebin, the baton has now been passed to Liam Neeson, and he steps into the role in a way that feels fresh while still paying tribute to what came before.

Pamela Anderson was a real surprise for me in this film. She nailed her role completely, with comic timing that worked perfectly alongside the chaos of the script. Liam also deserves full credit. He manages to create his own version of Drebin without simply copying Nielsen. His timing is sharp, his delivery confident, and it makes the whole film feel like it belongs in the same world as the originals while still being its own thing.

As for the humour, it definitely stays true to the old Naked Gun style. Some gags had me smiling more than laughing out loud. It leaned more toward “teehee” moments rather than full-on hysterics. That said, there was one scene that got me. A proper belly laugh. It was pulled off so well that it is going to stay with me forever. If you know, you know.

Overall, this reboot feels like a worthy return for the franchise. It is good to see the Naked Gun brand dusted off and given another shot. I really hope the writers keep this going and pen a few more. And it does leave me wondering… could another Airplane be on the way?
