This wasn’t your typical Shakespeare, but that’s exactly the point. Cliff Cardinal’s As You Like It: A Radical Retelling strips away the usual trappings of the Bard and replaces them with something raw, urgent and completely absorbing.
What stood out most was Cardinal’s presence. He has a remarkable way of drawing the audience in, mixing humour, intensity and a sharp edge that keeps you fully engaged from start to finish. You could feel the room leaning in, caught up in his rhythm and delivery.
It’s bold, different, and not what you might expect when you walk in, but it leaves an impression that lingers.
